Edo PDP to 'deal with' members behind Orbih's illegal suspension, vows to uphold PDP constitution – NIGERIAN TRIBUNE
Tribune Online – Breaking News in Nigeria Today
Rattled by the recent illegal suspension of the national vice chairman, Chief Dan Orbih and other top leaders, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have vowed to descend heavily on those behind the move.
In a statement made available in Benin after the Edo North senatorial zone quarterly meeting at the country home of Chairman of DAAR Communications and Board of Trustees (BOT) member, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, this weekend in Agenebode, Etsako East local government area of Edo State, a vote of confidence was passed on Chief Dan Orbih, State Secretary Chief Hillary Otsu and Senatorial Chairman, Segun Saiki.
The statement which was signed by Baba Sheriff Idenobemhe, Assistant Secretary (Edo North) pleaded that all hands should be on deck to work towards a successful national convention coming up in Abuja in a few weeks.
Idenobemhe reiterated that the purported suspension of Orbih, Otsu, Saiki and five chairmen from the zone was illegal and unconstitutional.
He vowed: “The perpetrators of the illegal suspension will be identified and disciplinary measures shall be imposed on them. Edo North Senatorial PDP and Edo State PDP remain committed to a strong and indivisible party.”
The scribe said that the tenets and constitution of the PDP will be upheld at all times in all party activities, especially with regards to the illegal meetings being held in some constituencies claiming to “harmonise” local government areas and ward executive councils.
The Edo North top party leaders noted that if the South South national vice chairman was originally involved in the negotiations for Governor Godwin Obaseki’s adoption, the process would have been better managed and the current imbroglio would have been averted.
Present at the meeting were Orbih; Dokpesi; State Working Committee members from the zone; Otsu; State Auditor, Dr. Wilson Imongan; all the local government areas and ward chairmen from the zone as well as two leaders representing each ward.
